hvx 200 hd100 fence sitter ponders...

I'm still on the fence but leaning heavily towards hvx. nonethless, i have a need to shoot a lot of static talking head interviews in front of a green screen. it's my understanding that the jvc hdv codec can be downconverted to a nice 4.2.2 SD picture which makes me think a good key should be possible. but at the same time the jvc hd codec would be in 24p right? i don't really want that, the rest of the footage is standard 30i. but 24p is most apparent only in motion right? so would a 24p talking head greenscreen shot look significantly different than a regular static 30i or 60i shot? or are all my assumptions wrong and should i just give up.

Well, assumptions are one thing, testing's another. I'd like someone with an HD100 or FX1 or Z1 to do a simple test: shoot a greenscreen head shot, in HDV and in DV mode. Then key out the background and output to standard-def DVD. If there's a dramatic superiority to the HDV-originated shot, that should answer most of the question.

24p is most definitely most apparent in motion. A talking-head interview will look substantially different in 60i vs. 24p. A locked-down tripod shot of a stationary subject wouldn't look any different at all (except for being higher perceived resolution in the 24p version).
