I am upgrading to the new Sony EX1 $8000 camera. My HVX has not recorded a single minute on the tape unit. The P2 card 8GB, is included in the price. The camera is perfect and also I got a 5 year US warrant from the store, which you keep as well. This camera is the choice for weddings or for the serious student, or indie productions, commercials, etc. I use it for youtube videos.
The camera is the japanese model only because they sell it there, but it is identical to any HVX sold in the US. I am in Tampa, FL. You can tell because the model number has a letter "M", or something like that. It does not have a warranty from Panasonic, but I got the warranty from a US company, through the store. The camera has never left the tripod in my home office, no exterior shootings, etc. It has the latest firmware that enables it to use 32-64 GB P2 cards.
