HVR-Z1U: Simultaneous capture/downconvert FCHD 4.5?

Any thoughts are welcome and appreciated...

Putting together a camera test with this new Sony - I've shot some 1080i with various settings and played it back on an HD monitor (not really blown away...) but now I need to lay the footage to SD DVD for my crew to look at (just to check out how it captures motion, resolution loss aside here.)

Here's the snag: haven't got a hold of FCHD5 yet, and I guess 4.5 isn't HDV ready (nor can I get Imovie HD to work with the Z1U, despite the program saying it supports the Sony FX).

So, can anyone give me some settings for my version of FC that will let me capture the HDV footage as SD? I managed to get it in there with the standard DV NTSC 48k 16:9 preset, but I'm afraid there might be a better way...?

Also, what field order should this footage come up as? The clip I've captured doesn't have it set.

Thanks guys,
Justin

Final Cut Pro 5 works well with FX1. The camera needs to be on, and actually paused on play (at least in my case). When you see the frame in the log and capture monitor, you can star capturing. IMovie5 should be even easier.

You can use MPEGStreamclip, but you'll need to have your computer crunch data for hours.
