did a little lite research. it's all speculation at this point but the rumor is that Canon will unveil an HV30 at the upcoming CES 2008 (first week of Jan).

Do a google search. There seems to be a fair bit of net litter regarding the HV30.
Not a popular opinion around here but I personally think there's a fair bit of room for improvement in the HV20. That said, there's just so much you can do with HDV so any improvements in the cam have to be considered in that framework.
