"HUNTED" - Trailer

First I thought the trailer looked great. Beautiful shots.

How in the heck did you do that arrow thing. AWESOME!!!!

I would love to see the final product.

Only one small bit of criticism: The black screens in the middle of the trailer were a bit distracting.

Other than that. Great job!!

Colors were excellent, really liked the matrix effect with the arrow, but I do agree that the black screens throughout are a bit distracting.......

Other than that, nice trailer.......

that was sweet. other than the black screen, add some cool sound effects of when the arrow's claws open up...

good job1

Thanks for the feedback every one. The arrow scene is pretty cool, I worked on that with Michael Blackbourn he obviously did a very nice job with it. that scene was shot on a glide cam and later the arrow was added in. Michael is a member of this forum so maybe he'll fill you in with some more technical details on that scene :) As for going to black in the trailer, I thought it worked, but if everyone is seems to disagree then I must be wrong on this one :undecided this teaser was put together quickly, maybe I'll work on editing another one.
Mortimer, at this point I'm not really worried about the name as this is just a short, if there is a chance for this to become a feature then I'll worry about the name :)
Xeaver, nothing other than my camera settings and Premiere Pro 1.5 If you guys want I'll post the camera setting. But really, lighting is the most important thing here and I think it is what makes it look a little like 35 mm.

good trailer. though, even the "hillbilies" have nice white teeth. you may wanna knock a few of them out and make them drink coffe and eat sugar for a few weeks to get the appopriete look.

Quite the cutie female too. any chance the final will have her shirt torn off, or even better, she finds a big bucket of clean water and decides to pour it all over herself in slow mo? (fo hygene purposes only of couse). At the least, maybe whilst running through the woods her clothing gets ripped away by vines and twigs? Could add "realism" to the whole thing.

just kidding of course (well kinda), but a reall good short, and the black sections didn't distract me. well done. cant wait to see the finished work.

Nice nice nice.
So I guess you used a DVX for shooting.
Did you use any adapter, onset audio recordings????

Oh, by the way please re-edit the thriller and take off that black screen please. It was annoying, well, not really, but I think we are all into the thriller and the blank screen was putting a pause on our head, if you add text or something, that would be fine, but just blank screen????? That's @#(*&^%$#@!#$%^&*

Thanks for all the great comments guys. I did the visual effects for the arrow.

It was modeled and textured to match the real thing. I 3D tracked the glidecam footage and corrected some parts manually as the anamorphic adapter throws the tracking software off a little. I animated the arrow into the tracked scene, added lights to match the lighting angles in the shot, and rendered out the 3D frames. In the composite I inserted my 3D arrow onto the plate and did color correcting to match the blacks and the color temperature of the footage. I also added some video "grain", a slight blur as my 3D elements were extremely crisp, and added the rack focus to bring more emphasis to the arrow as its passing.

Some other things that are going on in that shot is a subtle air distortion as we (the camera/viewer) get behind the arrow. That will be more apparent in other shots.

There were a few retimed shots in this film. Some have visual effects, some don't. I worked from the original footage which was probably 3 times slower than the final. That was so that once the footage was retimed to get sped up the "style" of the re-time would look the same as the background plate, and as all the other retimed shots in the short.

I got confused with half of that explenation, but you did an awesome job. You definitely have some amazing talent.

Any way I could get you to do some visual effects for me?

Really like the look of the footage. I did not care much for the actual trailer itself. Maybe more footage of the hunters would help. The arrow shot is very nice!

Ok, so you guys are not really feeling the trailer, I guess I'll be putting another one together :) Since we all like Michael's work, I would like to add that it was a very pleasant experience working with him very professional and really did add alot to this project.
Rapier_100a, you got some imagination man! lol
xilixfilms, as I mentioned earlier we used the anamorphic adapter which by the way I DO NOT RECOMMEND to any one. Just my personal experience. Sometimes it was a little difficult getting some of the shots especially when you wanted to get really close to an object it goes out of focus in a weird way and you can't really get it to focus again, so I had to compromise on some of the shots.

I remember this project from the clips/sg section a few months ago. nice work, good to see it's done and I can't wait to see the whole thing. Tim.

No don't get me wrong moe. I thought the trailer did it's job. It made me want to see the final product.

The only suggestion is that you should take out the black screens. I think an easy fix would be to put in some sort of text but that is only a suggestion.
