People at Red have already a countdown for tomorrow announcement of Epic and Scarlet...
I hope they bring out something we could stick to for a while.
I hope Scarlet is 24p
I hope Scarlet is lens changeable.
I hope Scarlet is uncompressed video.
I hope Scarlet is hard disk or memory stick compatible.
I hope Scarlet is full manual controlled
I hope Scarlet is...oh God... still 3,000...

If I forgot any other "HOPE", please feel free to add to the list above

Tomorrow RED will be announcing something great or they'll be shuting down... That's what they've been saying...

I second the sensor size, thats probably the single reason whay the shift in scarlets specs occured in the first place...

I anxiously await their announcement. But, remember that it could well change again (they will probably say I should count on it?) Plus I expect that to have it before mid 2010 I'll have to pay a premium to buy a waiting list spot? Still, could be nice and should give Canon and Nikon a kick in the pants.

All that would be awesome, but I've learned a long time ago its not worth it to wait. With RED, the game waiting game is ridiculous. I couldn't care less if the D90 is "obsolete" once the RED or even Canon 5d Mark II comes out. I've learned after having all the fancy HD blah blah tools that it all comes down to creativity and ability of the director.

That being said though, if RED truly pulls out a trump card with the Scarlet then its good for everyone in general.

Scarlet WILL be...

- 24p (with the option for 25p and 30p)
- with interchangeable lenses
- NOT uncompressed video (but Redcode RAW)
- not a hard disk but a CF card module
- with full manual camera controls
- and a 35mm sensor
- more expensive than we think at first

if its just 1080P, with a APC sized sensor, Redode to CF and a Nikon mount im Gold... even if its 6,000

they haven't confirmed (and have all but denied) the interchangeable lenses. nor anything else, including price. less than 12 hours to know. still, i'm getting a d90. at $1500 it's a nice intro to the whole shebangy.

looks like a fixed lens...

They absolutely have to backtrack on the earlier refusal to give Scarlet interchangeable lenses. Once the Nikon D90 and the Canon came out with 35mm sensors and video capability--and interchangeable lenses--Red was left with no choice.

It is still a conceptual rendering. Which might explain all the shiny. I won't be staying up to see what it is. But I am curious.

What's with all of the SHINY black BS?

Who knows. Maybe the RED fanboys will tell you when they finally have one in their hands in 2 1/2 years lol. Seriously, 3/4 of those fanboys on the scarlet forums don't have a RED and never will. They just have a romantic vision of RED overcoming the evil Sony/Canon/Nikon. I hope they know the owner of RED is a billionaire, I believe the former owner of the Oakley shades company. I truly believe they think the RED people work in a garage, slaving away tirelessly to overcome the forces of evil.

Fanboys, what else can I say about them....

Anyways nap time, peace
