I have one Idea, though I can't say is a solution. For what it's worth, here it is if you like to read on:
Try downloading and installing a different editing software. I think most let you use a trial version of it for a few days after you down load it from their site. Avid Express DV is one and I think Sony Vegas 5.0 is another that they are letting demos of. (Vegas I'm sure until Dec 15, Avid I'm not so sure.)
But in those, try importing your existing file and then try doing a 'digital cut' - spitting it back out onto DV.
Worse comes to worse and you must get to those files, you can take your hard drive to an editing house (depending on where you live this can be going about going a few blocks or crossing a few states) and they can transfer your wedding video.
