Wondering if anyone's had the opportunity to test recording AVCIntra out of the 500 into the AG-HPG20?

I'm looking at getting one for my HPX170 and the 500 - but I'm wondering what kind of quality difference anyone is seeing?

I have an HPX3000 and have done a test between shooting in DVCPRO HD and AVC Intra 100 and can see quite a difference, so I think it should be worth it... but just wanted to hear everyone's opinion on it.

Well, the full-raster is one advantage, and the more-efficient MPEG-4 coding is another, but yes you'll be missing out on the third advantage which would be the full 10-bit color space. You'll have 10-bit to work in for color correction, etc., but the cameras don't output 10-bit so the recorder won't be able to take advantage of that particular aspect of AVC-I.

The HPG20 has a million great features on it as well. I don't expect that you'll see as significant a difference between DVCPRO-HD and AVC-I from an HPX500/HPX170 as you are seeing from the HPX3000 though. The 3000 is just a substantially superior camera head and is capable of delivering everything AVC-I can handle.
