Just about to purchase an HPX500, but when I demo'd the camera I noticed the viewfinder was not great. Anyway you can use another viewfinder on this camera that will work well and show 16:9 etc?
THere is a 2.500$ 2"-16:9 Viewfinder (optional) - though I´ve not seen it yet.
The HPX viewfinder looks very similar to my existing DVC200 1,5" viewfinder - I´ll post some comparisons within the next days.
It looks like Sony, Panasonic and others see the "shipped VF" just as a sort of "must have" on the cam - suggesting that you use a HD-monitor on "serious" productions anyway. Just see Panasonics decision not only to ship an 1,5" SD-Viewfinder with the HPX, but also only offer a SD signal for viewfinding ANYWAY. THat means: We will never see a HD VF on the HPX...
I wonder if any engineer will build a small HD Viewfinder with 12V ext. power and component (or HD-SDI) inputs - for general use on any cam that offers these Video signals...
