Hi there,

Keen to here from anyone who has shoot a TVC/Short/Feature or anything on the HPX500/502/555 and had it transferred to 35mm or 16, preferred scene files ? exposure levels ? focus tips ? Ideal lenses ? (Looking for a very shallow DOF) and shooting format (1080/24p?)

Cheers
Ash

As far as lens goes, its more an asthetic choice. Anyone renting the fujinon primes your way? Panavision NZ most likely will. EDIT: I checked and they do - http://www.panavision.co.nz/main/rentals.asp?cat=HDSYS

These settings give a pretty good result

+4 vert detail
+4 detail coring

I would start with master pedestal at 0.

And for film out use 24PA.

Others may chime in with others - Id be interested in hearing.

-15 on the master ped is approaching the midtones, the blacks will be crushed. You can clean & crush the blacks in post. Its better to leave it neutral IMO.

cheers hunter, ive seen your desktop photography starbuck etc how to you make your black so nice what the post work like ?, still keen for an 500 to 35 tips from anyone also

That was actually shot with the hvx200 at -2 on the pedistal, I upressed and cleaned that stuff @ 10bit 2k in color.

At 0 on the master ped on the hpx, the blacks are very clean (especially in cineV gamma)

Yep, I just ran a clean up using the same methods for silicon final touch (what is now color)

I think you can find some of the same tutorials on silicon's website.
