HPX500 suited for music videos, independent films, etc.?

I always hear the HVX200 mentioned as being "the" camera for this type of stuff (music videos, independent films, etc.) - but how about the HPX500? I know it is referred to as an ENG-style camera, but how well suited is this to film-making/music videos/etc.?

Is the only reason it is not mentioned as much for anything outside news type stuff simply because of the price tag?

It is great for EVERYTHING! Just shot a musical environmental piece. It's great. A little color correction and it's great.

Also, the hvx ends up being like 10K once it comes down to cards, offloading options, etc. Right? For 10K more, it's more than a 10K difference if you have work coming in.

The 200 is "the" camera for those that don't want to spend "the" money for a better rig. Yes, I'd rather shoot shakeycam handheld on a 200, or take it rock cliimbing, or any other time where weight & size is an issue. But for higher quality imaging, pick the 500. Hey, if you want to shoot on primes, with a 500 you don't need the extra faddle... just screw 'em onto the B4 mount. 4 channels of audio. 2/3' chips. Etc etc. The reason you don't hear about 'em as much is because there's ALOT more 200s out there, longer.

hi all:

following this thread, I am going to start a documentary about a musician, and the project will include a live concert that needs filming, I am planning to use a 200 and a 500...are these two compatible image wise? What about editing in FCP?
thanks for the advise.

The 200 and 500 can be made to match extremely well. FCP is probably the most popular editor for working with 200/500 footage.
