HPX500 shot 1080 24pa but footage is 30p??? HELP

Shooting a feature with the HPX500. I'm the editor and received first batch of footage. The camera was confirmed as set to 1080 24pa. On log and transfer in FCP6 the footage comes in as 30p and when starting a new sequence it defaults to 29.97 timeline. Is there an option on import to ensure I'm capturing 24pa not 30p? Even if I open the video files in quicktime the inspector shows 30fps and 29.97. WTF? thanks in advance!
 
There is a setting in FCP 6 which tells the program to automatically converted ingested 30 advanced interlace material in 24p when logging and transferming. Check your manual. It's detailed there.
