HPX500 power drain

Has anyone else had their 500 suddenly start using up batteries?

After over a year of shooting, my camera has begun draining Dionic 50s in less than 40 minutes - I've gotten around 4 hours previously.

The batteries are good (I've tested them on another camera), they show 90% in the 500's finder, but I get a battery warning followed shortly by a power-off. In the past, the warning hasn't happened until around 60%

The LCD is off and I'm not using any exterior lights or monitors, and I'm not using the zoom more than normal.

I will send the camera to Panasonic, but am curious if this has happened to others.

seems like you batts are dying change them with swit or other lion batts cheaper 7 far better in performance than ABs i was an all AB fan but saw lion batts from Pro X & have forgotten spelling of Atnn Bouaer or what ever :)

Thanks for the replies, however it would be a pretty big coincidence to have three batteries (one of which is six months old) all go bad on the same day - and I've been using AB batteries for over 20 years.

As for the menu setting, I will try that, but I've never changed it since I set it originally, so if it's changing on its own, that's a problem too...

Again, anyone else ever have this problem?

FYI, I've shot approximately 120-140 hours of material with this camera in 720/24pn, 1080i and 1080 24p.
