hpx500 as deck?

You can't. No video inputs on the HPX500, IIRC. Firewire maybe, if you turn the thumbnails off.

Why would you want to use a 500 as a deck, to record from what is, essentially, a deck? Why not put the cards in the 500 and play out through SDI or firewire to the HPG20?

how do I get the slow mo to work from my varicam using the g20?

why does the HPX500 have record function on deck if it can't be used as a deck?

1) you don't. You'd use the HPM110 for that, or you'd bring the footage into your NLE from the HPG20 and strip out the pulldown.

2) Like I said in the prior memo, you could input through firewire on the HPX500, if you turn the thumbnails off. And if the HPG20 and the HPX500 are set to exactly the same REC FORMAT.

how do you stripe out the pulldown in FCP?
or does it require the frame rate converter? which I can't afford.

is there a tutorial on the net for this procedure?

thanks

I don't use FCP, so you'll have to ask that question of the FCP users. I believe the Cinema Tools application is what you're supposed to use.
