HPX500 1080 vs 720

I think as long as you know what your end deliverable is, then it makes it allot easier. If you're going to film out, then 1080/24pa is a great choice. If it's for broadcast, then 1080i/60 or 1080i/24p is a better choice. As an editor, if the end client wants the show in 60i, then it won't matter if it's 1080i/60 or 1080i/24p, same thing, I just don't flag the extra fields. However, if it was shot in 1080/24pa and it needs to convert back to 60i, because that's what the network calls for, it's a *****!

no its not realy a *****. there are software conversions who does that job, I did it allready a couple of times. Greame Natress has a software for that, it works great.
I shoot everything 720pn because of space. than de dvd converts it automatically to 60i and everything needs to be broadcasted, I use Natress filter.

720pn is no problem, it's 108024pa that's the problem.720pn is actually 24 frames of progessive video (or 23.98) there is no actual pull down, like with 1080 24pn. So getting a good looking 60i out of 108024pn isn't so easy. I'm just saying, if you know it's for broadcast, get the specs from the network and shoot it a that way. Then you won't get a call from the editor saying, "this video looks like crap"
