hpx370 with anton bauer tandem charger

When I put my Anton Bauer tandem charger on the back of the HPX370, the camera will not power on. This same setup works great with my JVC 200 cam. Anyone have any idea of why the Anton Bauer tandem unit will not power the HPX370?

You mean you're attaching just the tandem charger without the battery attached to it?
Put the battery on, go to menu option "Battery Setup" and set the first option "EXT DC IN SEL" to "battery", now it will work with just the charger on.

The tandem charger also acts as a AC power source to cameras with an AB mount (ie: my JVC200 can be powered by just the tandem charger without the battery)

I originally changed the "Batter Setup" selection as you said, but with just the AB tandem attached, the camera would not power. However, when I attach a batter to the tandem while it's on the hpx370, the camera powers on. I then remove the battery and the camera stays powered with just the tandem charger attached.

A strange "workaround" but it seems to work. Hope I'm not going to damage the camera by doing this.

Kinda strange, mine worked right after I changed that option... I don't think the "workaround" will cause damage though.

You shouldn't have to do the workaround! A simple call to Anton/Bauer will solve it - they'll probably have you mail it in, but they are EXCELLENT when it comes to repairs. Very quick turnaround, and most likely it will cost you nothing.

I had the same problem with my HPX300. I couldn't get mine to switch on, but it worked with a borrowed tandem -- when I put mine back on, it worked fine and continued to work. I left it attached and on AC (camera off) and then it switched on every time.

I read on another board that if you have a battery attached when you switch on, it will come on OK and then you can remove the battery. I haven't had a chance to try that yet.

If you contact A-B, please post the results.

My 370 wouldn't power up with the tandem either. I called Anton/Bauer and they already knew about the problem. They said it was a firmware problem on the Tandem and said to send it in for an firmware upgrade, free of charge.
