HPX370 standard def settings

Hello,

I currently have an HPX370 that I am using for some standard definition shoots. I am fairly pleased with the HD output, however the SD compared to other SD cameras I am using is not that great. It isn't bad but isn't as good as it could be. Just wondering if there are any recommended settings for standard definition. I have not had the camera for a long time so I have really played with all the settings yet.

I am not recording in the camera. I am taking output to a standard definition switcher.

Thanks
M

It would be nice if you could output HD from the camera, and use an outboard solution to get SD, instead of outputting SD from the camera itself. It's a well-known fact that native HD cams are worse at generating SD images than native SD cams because they use cheap conversion circuits.

The standard definition requirement is a temporary solution until I can afford to purchase more HD equipment. Just wondering if there are any menu settings or adjustments that can help make the picture a bit sharper. I have used a Sony EX1 and remember that until I did a few menu adjustments I was getting almost unusable SD footage. After adjusting it was much better. The SD footage isnt unusable, just a lot softer than my SD cameras. I would use my standard definition ones however they are now sold.

Hmm, I'll have to experiment on my own 370 then to find out, might be a combination of some detail settings.

Thanks very much. I will try that when i have the camera again. I had the output of the camera to 480i in the settings but did not adjust much else and I used stock scene file #1. I did some research with the manual and some of those settings definitely look like they can help get a better look. Not saying the picture isn't nice out of the box for SD but the picture is definitely a lot software than my old cameras.

Thanks again.
