HPX300 Rods System Plate...

Wanted everyone to know that there is another 15mm iris rods system plate option available now. The Cavision riser / wedge plate replaces the plastic one that comes on HPX300 and utilizes the dovetail that came with your camera.

The 15mm x 60mm lightweight rods bracket adjusts on the X/Y axises, so you can offset for almost any lens to mattebox configuration.

Price, less iris rods, is $163 plus s/h. Compare to Chrosziel and Zacuto at $795 and $565 respectively! Don't forget to enter your DVXUser or REDUser discount code!

I bought the Chrosziel 401-89B LWS with 205 mm rods for my HPX-301E and I paid
247€ here in germany. Thats round about 350$. Its build very solid and it is adjustable in every axis.

That's a fantastic price. B&H has the lowest I've seen on the 401-89B. About $695. You should post the store where you bought it from to give everyone the option.

We're talking about the rods system plate for the HPX300 specifically, which has a different mounting arrangement than other Panasonic shoulder-mount cameras. There are one or two options for putting rods directly onto the camera.

martin - can you plug into the remote zoom control jack on the lens with the chrosziel plate? it's not possible with the zacuto....

It's really close on the Cavision and the Chrosziel. I was able to fit my Varizoom jib remote extension by pulling and reinstalling the rods after making the connection.

Flaca,

Say it's not so. ;-( What zoom controller did you try ? I was interested in picking up a Varizoom zoom controller to use with my 300 ( and Zacuto rails).

Glad it was good for you! BTW, the DVXUser discount code through October 31st is DVXU5. We'll start running a winter promotion after that!

see the note at the bottom of the rspp page:
*Please note: not compatible with Panasonic HPX300, new plate for HPX300 available soon

By the way Erik, I want a T-Shirt with your Panasonic/Panavision logo on it. That's awesome, broseph.

The Cavision solution looks good -- I already use their accessories on my 300 -- but I'm already using the Zacuto plate and it's pretty sweet. It's also fire engine red. :)

Yessir, that is a nice plate. At the end of the day, there is little difference between the system plate designs. Some incorporate the "dovetail", while others opt to have you use the wedge that comes with the camera.

Cavision does it both ways, depending on model. Obviously, it is less intensive to cut the plate without the wedge incorporated.

All of them use pretty standard methods for X/Y offset. This is why I posted the Cavision solution - the price gap seems really big and everyone already has the wedge / dovetail / triad that will have to be removed from the camera anyway.

Say, some have let me know that they didn't put in the discount when they checked out! If you don't, that's it! I can't refund the discount, so please remember to drop DVXU5 into the discount field during the checkout process!

Thanks!

Cheers,

e

Hello folks and greetings from the UK, I read this post and have been looking for a cost effective 4x5.65 matte box and rail system for some time.

Thanks to Erik I now have the cavision rail system and a matte box flying over the atlantic.

I also have another superb resource for information on the HPX301 and other video related matters.

Best regards.
