HPX300 deal from Panasonic done?

We picked up another 300 the other day and the dealer made it sound like
we'd just made it under the wire as they'd gotten a letter from
Panasonic saying the 2 32Gig E-cards and $800 rebate or financing
deal was over as of March 17th.

I thought the deal was going to the 31st?

I paid 7595 for mine from B&H the next day they brought the price up to 7795 but as of today they were still offering 2 cards and the rebate.

Same thing happened to us .. we got three wildly different quotes ...
from 8495 at the high to 7495 at the low .. we took the low :)

There is a lot odd pricing fluctuation on the 300 right now .. wish I
had visibility into precisely why.

could it just be that panasonic wants its numbers up before NAB? maybe for the same reason they entice you so hard to register the camera and get the five year warranty. bragging rightgs for the show and a selling point for the codec in the lower priced camera range.... I dont really know much about how these things work but before there was chatter on the 370 that was my assumption. as well I would assume that ex1 is a strong competitor to the 300, maybe the release of the r version threatened sales so they throw in a bunch of good deals to sway the potential buyer. i myself was on the fence, the sony brand is wildly popular here in qatar but the 300 was the better all round deal with the rebate and the two cards cobined with the form factor and the option to upgrade as the camera earns its keep.

I guess we'll have a little more insight into what's going on in a couple of weeks.
EX1 is popular here in California too ... i just really like the color on Panasonic
:)...

Hi all,

To clarify the AG-HPX300 situation:

- Special Financing rates are available through March 31st.

- $800 End-User rebate is available through March 31st.

The rebate does end in March and will not be extended. We have no information as to whether or not there will be any special offers after that.

- (2) free AJ-P2E032XG is discontinued as of March 17th.

However, there is the variable of availability. The free P2 cards shipped with the camera. So:

If a dealer ordered cameras during this promotion, they haven't sold out and still have promotional cameras in stock, then they can still offer the free P2 cards.

If a dealer ordered cameras during this promotion, they sold out and have to order new cameras, the promotion is over and the price has changed (hint: it didn't drop).

Authorized dealers offering the HPX300 around 7500.00 have "promo stock" that they want to move quick. It's a great deal -- just make sure they're authorized! Street price was around 7800.00 - 7900.00. Those selling for higher might be offering "new stock" (shipping in April) or maybe just aren't competitive. I suspect sometime next month we'll have a real idea of what the new street price will be.

I don't understand why the price of the camera would go up if nothing has changed with it? Does this mean that there is an update in the new units?

Also on the Panasonic site it said that the P2 card offer was good until the 31st as well. For them to just suddenly discontinue it is very suspect. There is something fishy going on right now.
