HPX300 Audio Issue

When I switch the camera to 720p 30pn AVC-Intra 100 the camera do not show any audio level and is not being recorded. It works with 24pn. Has any one had this problem?

If you have VFR turned on audio recording will be disabled. Otherwise, sound should certainly be recorded in 720p30 (and all other standard resolutions/framerates).

Check to see if your scene file has VFR turned on and the framerate set to 24. That may still allow audio in 720p24, but disable it when you switch to 30p

Thanks for you help MaxThomas and others. I did not realized that when you are recording in 720 that I had to turn the VFR off. This is the first time that I have had to record in 720 and did not look through the menus with this recording setting. All of my work thus far has been in 1080 and that why I got this camera.

Working on some shots for the web and no need to do 1080 for these videos.

Again Thanks

Sean

HPX300 Audio Missing

HPX300 Audio Missing

The setup:

Brand New HPX300 (3 days old) with the current firmware

Settings: B-Spark, VFR OFF, 720, 30PN

Mics: AT SHotgun connected to front input, 2 wireless at rear input

media: 32gig P2 card E-Series

Problem: I monitored the audio via headphones and it was there, I verified by the meters that audio was present and it was. When I looked at the P2 card later there was no audio recorded. I'm well aware of the 720 30PN VFR issue but if VFR is on you don't hear anything through the headphones and nothing registers on the meters. The P2 card had all of the correct folders including the audio folder which was blank inside. There was nothing from the wireless mics or the shotgun even though I heard them on the phones throughout the entire session and the video is fine.

Question: My question is under what conditions should it ever be possible to hear the audio via the headphones and see it register on the meters and have it not record to the P2 card? Incidently, it had worked prior to this problem and has worked since but of course my session is ruined at ths point.

Thanks in advance for any input you can give me as I'm perplexed on this one.

<<<Warning>> NEVER use 720 at 30PN if you want audio to be recorded.

I emailed Panasonic technical 2 days ago and no response on my audio problem. I simply can't replicate the audio problem I have had where I can hear the audio on the headphones and I can see the audio on the screen but it does not record. It works every time now.

I know all about the VFR issue and this isn't it. I had VFR set to off and I could hear the audio and see it on the meters. I have totally lost faith in this camera and I think Panasonic should start thinking about a RECALL. They're noisey and in at least my case with a brand new HPX300 they're also intermittent.

While I may sound angry I'm really not. I love the HPX300 when its working. The images are fantastic, sometimes, but I'm also afraid of the camera now after having lost forever a very important segment of an important live event.
