I was wondering if the 250 was better in low light than the 170.
Also, knowing that the main difference between the 250 and the 370 is the lens, is there one more light sensitive than the other?
The 250 is pretty sensitive in PAP 1 setting, but loses over a stop in PAP 2. The problem with a full raster 1/3" sensor is the pixel sites are small. The 170 sensors are SD pixel count, so larger pixels. Panasonic has to up the preamp gains to get back the sensitivity and then employs noise reduction and in the case of PAP 1 setting, 3D noise reduction, which is very effective, but can cause artifacts on fast motion scenes. The 250 lens ramps down to f3.4 about 75% zoomed in. So, it has more reach than the standard ENG lens of the 370, but you lose a bit of sensitivity.
