HPX171 Recording Modes and Final Cut

Hi there, I borrowed the HPX171 today and read a lot about the recording modes. The way i get it is this:

Shooting 720pn will only record exactly 24frames per second or whatever frame rate you choose from the framerate menu. Importing into final Cut is very straight forward, because you just use log and transfer. No need for Pulldown. Great.

Now with 1080p things get a bit more complicated, because DVCProHD 1080 is always interlaced. So...

1080i25p: No need for pulldown, but every frame is recorded twice, which doubles the files sizes that is really necessary? Can i capture with Final Cut Pro using ProRes, so that i get just 25progressive frames per second, and in doing that only get half the file size that i get with DVCProHD?

1080i24p: Need for 3:2 pulldown. Slight quality loss. But after that, do i really get 24p? I mean its still DVCProHD no? Do i have to capture it in ProRes?

1080i24pa: Advanced Pulldown needed. Less quality loss. Recode to ProRes needed? Can FinalCut even do that advanced pulldown?

The only checkbox i see in Final Cut in the Log and Transfer Settings Window reads something like this (i have the german version) "advanced pulldown and removing of duplicate frames" is this the 3:2 Pulldown or advanced. Or do i just have to click on it and FinalCut does the right thing automatic?

Hope its understandable! Thanks.

I just checked something that made me wonder? I choose 720 25pn and set the frame rate to 24 frames per second. The camera told me then i could still record 48min of footage.
I then changed the system frequency from 50Hz to 59.94Hz and choose 720 24pn and the camera told me i could record 55min of footage.

Thats really confusing to me now. I mean the 720pn mode is supposed just record the amount of frames you choose under frame rate. Why should the system frequency alter the amount of footage i can capture when i use the exact same frame rate and resolution??

Nobody else had this issues? Maybe some experienced users could comment on how they do it?

Hold everything. You are in PAL land. Keep your camera set to 50hz. Shoot 720 25pn. Make sure your frame rate is set to default (film mode). Any other frame rate will be under or overcranked and will NOT have audio.
