We've a pair of 171s and the earlier model appears to have a bit of play in the viewfinder side-to-side. Now I imagine it's not designed to be rock-solid for shock reasons, but if you look uon the underside of the vf there are the weediest couple of screws that don't want to take any more torque (and I would risk rounding them if I forced it.) - but I reckon they've moved around in the holes over time and created this play.
