HPX170's 480 mode

I just want to throw this out there... I was a DVX shooter until I switched over the the HPX. Now since the HPX can shoot SD as well for my SD work I continue to use the HPX. For events it is superb as I don't have to stop and switch tapes.

Now... is it me or am I hallucinating that the image quality of the HPX in SD mode is not as good as the DVX? Perhaps it's only because I'm used to HD, SD looks poor on my 27' iMac. I'm seeing horizontal pixelated details that I don't remember seeing with the DVX even in progressive mode.

If you need to see some samples I can post some later.

Thanks

Ya, I find the SD quality on the 170 to be very good. If you're viewing Interlaced video on the comp. screen, it might not look its best...

The DVX is definitely more sensitive than the HPX170, but the HPX170's noise is sooooo much cleaner than the DVX's that you can easily go to +9dB of gain on the HPX170 and still have a better picture than the DVX.
