HPX170 vs PD170

I've thought, Pana will bring the prices of P2-cards a little down with the appearing of the 64GB card, but they didn't.

if they havent - they WILL. card prices always drop when the next bigger card comes out. maybe not the 1st day its announced but within a reasonable amount of time. i bought my first 8gig card for $1300. less than a year later i bought a 16gig for $850. thats a pretty reasonable situation IMO.

and as long as were moaning about prices... my first 4gig video drive back in 1996 cost $SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS! price is NOT a new argument in the video biz ; )

Epilog:

Of course I meant "Made" not "Maid", but a maid can also be a nice issue to talk about ... ;-)
(Oh those silly Germans!)

Hey everybody, I don't see you as picking on me, it is my fault I am unhappy with the situation.

I "understand things", I just don't like or agree with them!

I use DVC-200 1/2" chip DV cameras right now. They can record 4 1/2 hours on a single $20 tape.

I have built my business around this recording capability.

These are 4:3 cameras which are going out in style, so I need to stay current.

Firestore is bankrupt and I don't trust their devices anyway and a laptop is not the pillar of reliability either.

So I have to either get new clients & business or use a cheaper non-pro camera just because Panasonic designed a recording system that was not meant for anything over an hour?

See this is my point, a recording medium is stopping me from buying cameras. That seems backwards to me.

I said my peace and I accept the situation. The Nano will offer what I need when it is released.
