hpx170 squeeze vs lttrbox

i know there is thousands of posts regarding this..... but none clear for me


as i understand it

in 480i mode, you can switch betweet NORMAL, SQUEEZE, and LETTERBOX

in 720p mode, you cannot change the mode, and it is unselectable in the menu.



Does this mean that the setting is irrelevant when in 720p mode, or does it mean that you are locked in to whatever setiing is selected?

720p is always 16:9.

Squeeze, "Normal", and "Letterbox" are only relevant when shooting 480i. Squeeze = native 16:9, "normal" = native 4:3, and "letterbox" = "normal" plus black bands on the top and bottom.
