HPX170 own section

I was disappointed that the 170 didn't get it's own section. I think would be less confusing as the two cameras will have different issues.
 
I guess all we're trying to avoid (by having a combined section) is having scads of duplicate threads for issues that are identical between them. The 170 has new features, yes, but the core is largely the same as the 200A (and, to a large extent, the 200). So what major benefit do you folks see to splitting it off?

The model number, build and feature set. :)

They are very similar in a lot of ways, but I think the HPX170 is different enough to stand out on its own (as opposed to the HVX200 vs HVX200A). It would be nice if it had its own section, but I won't resign from DVXUser if it doesn't get it. :grin:

Good point, Barry. I just personally like things grouped together as much as possible (reasonably speaking). I know for myself I'd now like to sift through more HPX170 threads instead of HVX200/A threads. This would probably be easier if it had its own section.
 
Well, yes, and I'm sure 170 owners would be happier having their own private place, sure. But I'm just wondering if it actually is necessary and serves the greater site better. That's all.
 
Thinking about it, the way it's formatted now makes sense. HVX & HPX have a merged tech section but seperate footy sections. I think it's cool like that.

2 main reasons to separate:

1.- When you are searching for something in the forum, at least you know "every single thing" is about that specific camera. (you know... problems, tips, answers,etc.)

2.- Having a camera is like joining a club, so you want your own place to hang around.

I think it's fine as is. Two separate sections means another section to search for issues that are "usually" going to be common to both cameras, as least until that little 170 "issue" is cleared up and blows away.
