HPX170 Lens Gap

I just bought an HPX170 a few days ago and noticed this gap between the lens barrel and the back of the zoom ring. It's about a millimeter wide. I have not had time to do an accurate back focus test but everything I have shot so far looks okay. This bothers me though. Anyone else seen this?

heh, every 170 has it. Nothing we can do about it. The whole lens unit feels cheap to me, but what can you do.

Yeah, not real happy. I know dirt and debris can get inside any lens but the bigger the gap, the easier it is for "whatever" contaminates to get in there in cause trouble. As long as the back focus and all associated with the image is okay then I will have to live with it. Maybe I will find a thin O-ring to put in there.

No. The barrel lens inside is completely closed and the CCD block is inside the barrel. There isn't any risk of dust inside. Absolutely
