hey
I think i've got a problem with my hpx but I'm not sure.
When I'm turning the iris knob it's going to 9.6, then 11 and almost immediatly to "close". No "16".
Can you confirm my camcorder has an issue?
Thanx!
I'm saying that because i've got the "16" on my DVX and the "11" is really not staying long when I turn the knob in comparison with the others aperture numbers.
Is it in bright sunlight, with no ND filter?
Sometimes the iris will close quickly under those conditions.
If it is bright sunlight, try using the ND filters, and see if the iris closes more gradually.
Not in front of it right now, but IIRC the HPX170 doesn't offer f/16. Diffraction in HD camcorders becomes a real problem the smaller the iris is, so while the DVX had f/16, it's standard-def so it could get away with it. HD camcorders get very very very fuzzy and soft at tiny apertures, so the HPX170 has f/11 as a max.
