HPX170 and DVX100b: Both 72mm, lenses and filters interchangable?

Looking at buying a telephoto lens/wide angle lens, filters and so on. I have a DVX now, and really need the extra telephoto zoom asap. But I do plan on upgrading to a HPX170, possibly before the 500 mail in rebate runs out Sept 30th

So.... Would investing in a HPX170 quality lens/filters be a good idea and use them now with the DVX100? Or would they not be interchangable? Any help/knowledge about this is appreciated!

Thanks!

Well, it depends on the lens you're looking at. If it's a screw-in thread, such as those made by 16x9inc, then yes they will be compatible -- although you'd certainly want to buy the HD version in the first place; putting SD glass in front of an HD camcorder may or may not work out, but HD glass on an SD camcorder is perfectly fine.

If, however, you're talking about a bayonet-mount lens, such as those offered by Schneider/Century, then I'm not so sure it'll work. The bayonet is compatible between the two cameras, but the distance of the rear element glass may not be. It'd be best to ask Schneider. If it turns out that they're not fully compatible, I am certain Schneider could re-mount the lens to the other camera's mount for a modest fee.
