The EX's are a little cleaner, and I love the option of different lenses on the EX3. But I still don't know if they'll output HD SDI, uncompressed 720 30p. The RED's are great and will be great. But they don't come with lenses, in case you hadn't heard.
The HPX170 outdated? That'll be true when there's a better camera at a lower cost. $5200 was all I could afford, and I'm looking forward to getting all the support gear for the extra money an EX would cost. I also get to chat with Panasonic camera developers and dealers online. Sure don't get that with Sony.
