HPX SDI out to HDMI

Hey there,

I need to record and stream to a HDTV at the same time for a lesson. Composite cables will work, but obviously if we can get HD all the better. Now a typical consumer HDTV does not have SDI-in, only HDMI. Is it possible to convert/adapt the footage from the HPX's SDI out to TV's HDMI in without spending a fortune?

I found this on google, but heck I'm not spending $450 on this.

Component is all but equal to HDMI.
? Component is an analog signal, and HDMI is digital... so I don't know exactly what you mean here?

And yes, most HDTVs do indeed have component input as well as HDMI, so yes, a simple component cable may be all you need.

Barry,

After researching and viewing both, the quality is very similar. I have input HDMI signals and component signals of the same subject, in 1080p, to the same HDMI TV and I could see no difference. That was what the OP was after, better quality than composite. I could have been more precise in that statement.

Okay, gotcha. Yes, they are of comparable quality; I was just pointing out that one is digital and the other is analog, so a converter between them is a bigger job than, for example, a converter from HDMI to DVI. That's a simple mechanical plug, because HDMI and DVI are compatible digital signals, whereas component is an analog signal that would have to be digitized to be turned into an HDMI-compatible signal. Thanks for clarifying, I just wanted to make sure we were on the same page.
