HPX/HVX framerates/resolution settings

I know this has been answered ad nauseum but you can imagine the search results on these terms.

The large array of framerates on both of these cameras is available only in 720 shooting correct? I can't for instance shoot at 1080 at 48fps?

Thanks, and I'll delete this thread as soon as it gets answered.

Oh crap....I guess I can't delete it. Oh well. I'm sure it'll get closed :D

That is correct. In 1080 mode you can choose from 24p, 30p, or 60i. In 720 mode you have the dozens of variable frame rates.

Thanks Barry.

Since I can't delete this thread, I'll try and make it relevant. :D

The reason I ask is I'll be ponying up for a 170 in about a month. I've been using an unmanned cable line to shoot some sports. After running deshaker/mercalli/take your pick, you get the upscaling issues. I'm thinking shooting in 1080 could help this, to match primary 720 clips.

I know this is sacrilege, but given these limitations, have you seen any examples of anyone taking 1080/60i footage and doing the old ghetto stretch technique to 60 or 30p? I imagine it softens it up a good bit but at 1080 downsized to 720, how much would that matter? Having both 60p and 30p options, plus the bigger frame to cut out with the smoothing software seems like a doable thing to me right now. Slap me if it's not.

This is the kind of thing I'm talking about btw.
