HPX Cont Issues - Auto Recording?

So, I am having continued issues with my brand new HPX 170. Now, when I turn the unit on, it automatically tries to record and will not shut off even after I flip the switch. It doesn't look like a button is sticking, though.

I have tried taking out the battery, the P2 card, and nothing--still tries to record on it's own and won't respond to any buttons. Even when the P2 card is removed, it still attempts to record and gives the signal that no P2 card is loaded.

What to do? I have been very disappointed in encountering these obstacles with a brand new camera--my expectations have fallen short, to say the least.

Hoping to get these issues resolved so that I can enjoy this great Camera model (not necessarily mine, though!)...

Also, I have tried turning off the record function from the camera's handle--still no dice. I just used the camera last night and had no problems what so ever. The only thing that I have done since then is charge the battery--and I tried just plugging the camera into the wall and that did not fix the issue either...

I believe the 170 has a master reset you could try, but not sure how to tell you to do it.

I've already done so---gotten mixed information from different engineers on my first issue. Waiting for a response on the second as it happened on a Weekend. The record issue is a bizarre one and I have looked at different resources and can't seem to find a solution.

I almost wonder if one of the wires or internal mechanisms for the record button(s) are being set off internally as there is no external evidence of a button sticking.

you have the classic "loose ribbon connector" issue (well-documented here), which usually only manifests itself in camers after they've been used for a while.

good thing you are still under warranty. make sure B&H sends you a new different camera.
