I own a hpx170 and I was wondering if anyone thinks its worth upgrading to af100? if it even is a upgrade, i figure i can use my lens on my gh2 on it as well.
Hpx is sharp jus doesnt seem to be as clean as af100.
This is a question that gets asked in one form or another a lot. I think it almost always boils down to it really depends on what your intended use of the particular cameras in question are. For example, one camera may be better for run and gun while another may be better for narrative.
I would think having a GH2 and HPX170 would give you a very versatile setup. GH2 for macro and better detail on wide shots with the HPX handling everything else.
The combo of 1/3 sensor cam + large sensor cam is a pretty fantastic combo. There's a lot of stuff that would become much more annoying to shoot with an AF100 (or GH2/7D/5D) compared to an HPX170.
Of course, that doesn't really matter if you don't shoot those kinds of things. Events, sports, run and gun, ENG type of stuff.
If you could afford both the AF100 and the HPX170, that would be ideal. If you can't, I think the GH2/HPX170 is good. I have the GH2/HMC150 and I'm very glad I didn't sell the 150. I really thought about it.
