Shooting in the moRning with a 500 and f3 and I need advice on getting them to match up. Any suggestions on gammas to use. Any advice would be great.

If you don't mind dumbing down the F3 I would consider shooting at 18DB gain to add some small amount of noise and DOF.

Funny, i had a shoot recently with these two cameras.

We had to "dumb down" the F3 quite a bit. Used a very high negative detail amount, somethign like -35, to get the sharpness to begin to match, then i had to tweak manually, the knee, gamma, and black levels to get it to match somewhat the curve on the HPX500. It was amazingly well matched in tone/color, but the F3 was still much sharper, cleaner and the dynamic range was vastly better. Overall the customization and depth of the menus on the F3 really made it possible to get within the ballpark, but thats it. Ballpark.

The finished piece was on web so the differences were far less apparent.
