hi all:
Here's what I would like to do:
Use my HPX-170 with FW connected to mac PowerBook G4 and playback SD 24P*timeline,*hook up hopefully HPX Component SD out, but if can't passthrough output component this way use S Video SD out to a HD high end projector or maybe even a PS3 that can playback 24P to screen. I have watched earlier cuts of this same film passthrough the HPX while the timeline was still in 29.97 setting and original media was still 29.97 without pulldown removed. So, yes, I do know I can do pass through with HPX, Mac PowerBook G4 and this very same projector at least as 29.97
Big thing I want to know is this:
If I send out a 24P timeline through FW to the HPX, will it auto throw in a 2:3 pulldown as it passes through the signal to output SD video to the projector, or can I pass through clean Progressive 24P footage and have the projector input it the correct way and keep it all at 24P? And I can say for sure my projector will correctly display and output 24P media - it does not through pulldown in. Anyone ever done this?
I also own a HVX200 but I doubt that's any better at this - probably worse.
(old film I shot on DVX100 in 24P mode, not 24PA that i need to convert from the 29.97 recording from miniDV tape FCP auto digitized - thanks FCP for f*&ing me over there, to 24P - the interlace looks like absolute sh*t).
Thanks!!
RJ
