HPX 170 made to look like HVX200

I couldn't seem to find anything posted about making my 170 look like a 200 (non A). I'm about to embark on the last leg of a feature Doc. I've been working on all spring and sumer. I shot everything with my old 200, which I sold a few weeks back, or a subrented 200. Now that I got my 170 I just want to use that. I Have Barry's book, but didn't see anywhere how much gain I should add to match the 200's footage. I did find the section in Barry's book about the settings like Master Ped and translating them, but not the gain. I'm thinking around 6db of gain, maybe 9db. Does anyone know?

I would match your scene files as well as possible and just shoot.
Worry about the matching in post, where you have more time and control with a critical eye.

The cameras may be differnet, but they aren't night and day - so the matching shouldn't be that difficult.

I just got a 200a after using a 200 for about a year. IMHO, you would need to add +9db to get the same signal to noise ratio. Since the 200a and 170 have the same chipset, I would think that translates well - but you'll have to guess and check.

Thanks for the suggestion, but there is a good chance I might not be around for post. The director doesn't have the eye I do, so It makes more sense for me to do it now.

Thanks, after some tests I just ran, this seems about right.
