My HPX-170 is duplicating the footages that I shoot. For example: when I view file 1 in the CONTENTS folder it contains footage X. When I view file 2 and 3 they also contains footage X, then file 4 will contuine and contains footage Y. What I want is file 1=x, file 2=y, file 3=z...etc. Does anyone know why or having the same problem? Is there a setting that I need to turn off?

If a take is long enough so that the file is larger than 4 GB, the camera will split the take into separate files.
The problem is not that the file is too large. From what you said, if I get two seperate files they should contain different footage (file 2 contuines from file 1). My problem is that file 1 and 2 (and sometimes 3) contains the same exact footage. So if file 1 starts out with me saying "hi how are you" then file 2 and 3 will have the same exact contents with me saying "hi how are you."
Is that audio or video? Every clip has 4 audio files associated with it.
