Re: HoydyshBrothers.com

Well we'll see how long this stays on DVXUser before it’s censored. I was in the military; although I didn’t take offense to it I probably didn’t find it as funny as others might. Compared to the make up for men, which was funnier, this trailer was a little slow. But it was very well done and it looks like everyone has a good time making them.

Re: HoydyshBrothers.com

It seems you guy's are trying your hardest to offend every group possible; the military (republicans), arabs, jews, the brothers, red-necks, asians. Only insult you missed were lesbians and little people.

Not sure how I feel about this; seems a waste of energy to produce something like this and its obvious some work was put into it. It wasn't funny not by subject matter, but by execution; more over the top and 'shock jock' in style than in substance.

Technically it looks okay; sitcom-ish or late night skit comedy style. I can't really say 'Bravo' as I'm wondering "Who watches this crap?"

Re: HoydyshBrothers.com

excactly... put that energy and time/money into something worthwhile.

Re: HoydyshBrothers.com

I think the probelm is that it is beyond bad taste. It's one thing to take a stab or run a political sketch (SNL or MADtv) but this is just "in bad taste".

To each his own I guess. But really; who's watching this?

Re: HoydyshBrothers.com

Speaking of bad taste... I'm kind of afraid of what you people will say when I get around to shooting some of the shorts my girlfriend and I have written. Yikes! :D

Re: HoydyshBrothers.com

Hmmmmm.....

I'm strugling to remain objective, but content is getting the best of me. I'm not sure who the audience is ... I'm guessing that 13-16 year old high school burnouts might enjoy it. Seriously. But other than that ... you've got creative skills, why not try something a little less ... base?

rock.

Re: HoydyshBrothers.com

Hmm...I dunno what all the fuss is about. True, the content is a little on the dark side, but I imagine this is exactly what the Bros. are trying to acheive. The earlier comment likening this to something you might see on MadTV, or might have seen on In Living Color, is spot on... and from that perspective I think The Bros. are doing a fairly respectable take for a first-go.

Only thing I could suggest would be to tighten it up a little bit, but that's part of the process, innit? I think it's your call as to how risque to get, but there is truth to the comments that if you want to be in the SketchCom biz, you do need to give a little thought to who your audience might be. Don't want to funny ourselves right off the edge of the funny game, now do we?

I might consider a bigger, easier target...Like the Pharmaceutical Companies or something. There has got to be a gold mine in satire possibilities, and you can rake them over the coals without seeming hurtful... because when they kill thousands of people, they know they're doing it - as opposed to your average soldier who's been conviced along with his family that he's actually "helping" others by dropping bombs on thier neighborhood, or sexually humiliating them in a "detention center".

Omar - "Detainment?... detainment?... Ok, fine...would you please stop detaining my ass with that broom handle???"

Re: HoydyshBrothers.com

There is nothing wrong with being politically subversive in regards to American soldiers abusing and torturing Iraqis...especially since the issue is so vigorously muted by mainstream US media with their propoganda. Abu Ghraib just happened to be the only one of many daily horror stories that fortunately slipped through the cracks.
If you are going to address this issue, however, it might help to have d*ck and fart jokes that are scatalogically apt to the subject you are addressing. Maybe some realism to draw viewers in, first.
If you are to deal with such a heavy issue, then you might want to actually address the issue...that way it will have more poignancy. American soldiers are torturing Iraqis, I don't think there is rampant anal intercourse, though.
