How Web Forums Make Neuroticism Viral

The reason is time. It is weirdos and neurotics that are most disposed to spending all their time posting online, so they end up generating the majority of the content.

Reminds me of the sig line of an Aussie cinematographer. " I don't suffer from insanity. I positively enjoy it."

See that post count under all of our handles? If it's over 100, guess what you are? By definition, any of us with thousands of posts are complete neurotics. I have been posting here since 2004, that's as neurotic and OCD as they come. ;-)

I have over 40,000 posts on a sports site. Twelve years of posting there. Quit it several times, the last time about a year ago.

Oh yes, I keep seeing that thread under our What's New tab, and I am tempted to open it. Then I'm like, wait, no one has any information yet. It's just going to be endless contention and microanalysis of tea leaves.

Sometimes my curiosity gets the better of me, and I open it anyway. Ugh! Quick, shut the door!
