How to view a non s-log image while shooting s-log?

I have been reading a lot of posts trying to understand how to view a non s-log image whilst shooting with s-log but am only confused now.

My current set up is F3+samurai+FSI 2981 monitor.

Do I need to buy a LUT and install it somehow on my FSI? Or is there a different workflow that is more convenient +cheaper?

It would be very helpful if someone can help with an easy to understand explanation.

Many thanks

Currently you can't work without an external LUT. Sony has announced a solution for the next firmware, though.

+1. In January the v1.3 firmware will allow S-Log to be recorded out of port A and you can enable the camera LUT out of SDI video out. The firmware update is expected to be free.
