How to translate to Indonesian?

Some people are requesting I translate some old ministry videos to Indonesian. What is a good way to do this?

A cheesy way to do it is via a computer based system (something like Google Translate). If your original is very straight-forward business style narrative, it's unlikely to be too mangled up. But your surest bet would be to hire a professional translator. Indonesia isn't a particularly wealthy country and you should be able to get a good deal.

But if there's slang, then you are going to find trouble. I will run English-to-Russian translation quite often and Facebook will automatically do Belorussian-to-English as per my setting. The former does pretty well; the latter is unusable.

Side note - I tried translating Chekhov via Google. Some stories were OK but his plays came out well.

But Vyssotsky's "Soldiers of the Army Group Center" lyrics....

Russian to English via Google -

The soldier is always healthy
The soldier is ready for anything
And dust like from carpets
We get out of the way
And do not stop
And don't change legs
Our faces shine
The shoes sparkle!
Across the scorched plain
Meter meter
Go to Ukraine
Soldiers of the Center group

-------------------------

From an amateur non-literal translation

A soldier is always strong
A soldier is hot to trot
We're busy kicking dust
From roadways' sandy rugs.

There is no time for stopping,
No chance to shuffle legs,
Our grins are never dropping,
We shine from boots to heads!

The scorched wheat fields all smolder,
And meter after meter
Ukraine is stomped by soldiers:
The Army Group named Center!

I would have done something like this -a quick try

Good soldier's always fit
We'll readily admit
And he will cross a thousand miles
just showing off his grit.

And rarely he'll stumble
He'll never miss a step
Forever he will rumble
Across the Russian steppes

Wheat fields are set afire
by armor's heavy hitters
and everyone is awed and shocked
by Heeresgruppe Mitte

----------------------

Heeresgruppe Mitte is the German for Army Group Center (though, Mitte is technically middle) ... Vyssotsky also goes for the rhyme and the sound more than historical accuracy, as Ukraine was under the operational control of Army Group South (Heeresgruppe Süd).

Just found the Deep Learning (online and for free)

https://www.deepl.com/en/translator

It won't do the poems with rhymes but performed much better on the German-to-English and the Russian-to-English translations. I did a Wikipedia German text on Operation Barbarossa (Unternehmen Barbarossa) and the sentence structure seemed almost flawless with very few errors. Then I tried Bulgakov's "Master and Margarita" opening in Russian, which I almost know by heart, and the Deep learning text was superior to the professional translation that I linked to in the Soviet film thread.

Those who are multi-lingual may want to give it a try in the languages that you do speak because it seems to do a great job in languages you don't.
