How to test a used DVX100

Can someone suggest a checklist that I might use to test a used DVX100 for functionality. I am new to the camera and have 7 days with this used one to make sure it works. I would hate to find out something was messed up after 7 days just because I didn't know to check it out.

At this point I know to turn it on and take some footage and push all the buttons, but is there something that commonly fails that I would not notice while just capturing footage?

Obviously if the heads are clogged or need replaced I'll notice after running through a few tapes. Obviously if there is an error message on the screen, I'll see that. I've heard with the power off the optical stabilization will jiggle a bit and I shouldn't be scared of that.

Any input?
Thanks.

-check iris control
-check mic
-check to see if xlr inputs work for external mics
-check manual focus and zoom
-check auto focus and zoom
-check the ND filter to see if it functions correctly
-check the vcr mode to see if it plays back tapes
-and see if you can access the menu

thats all folks!:)

Thanks much jdmoviemaker. See you're in Houston, Austin here. There is a Precision Video here in town that rents out a DVX100, and they said for $38 they would give it a once over and make sure everything was working, so I think I'm gonna go ahead and do that.

They're not a Panasonic Authorized Dealer or Repair Center, but I figure if they rent one out they've probably seen a problem or two as rentals are usually used pretty roughly.
