How to tell if it's grey market?

Hi, I found a pretty good deal for a used DVX that I can check out in person and I just wanted to ask how to tell if it might be grey market. I live in the US. I undertand that if it shoots at say, 25p for the Euro market then it should say DVX100Be on the side? What's this about a DVX102b? Are there any other labels clearly on the side of the camera that would tip the buyer off that this isn't a normal 24p NTSC camera? I did a search on the board for this but no one specifically said if there are any non-US cameras circulating that DON'T have a label on the camera clearly saying as such. Thanx for any help!

Whenever you are buying used, what you need to do is ask questions, questions, and more questions! Make sure that you feel confident in a purchase you're making, and it's always best to talk to someone over the phone, and even better, in person to see the camera (plus this gives you the opportunity to "examine" the camera and test it out)
In terms of the "DVX102B," I think (but I'm not positive) that it means it's European (PAL), but I could be wrong. I'm just pretty sure I read that somewhere.
And as a side note, in case you are ever buying from a website and you think it might sound fishy, it's always best to look them up on http://www.resellerratings.com/ to check how reliable they are.

The cameras here in Europe, at the least here in Norway, is called DVX100AE/BE (just add a E). I have read that the 102 is asian, but I could also be wrong.

from a practical perspective, grey market basically just means whether or not the machine has a valid manufacturer's warranty in your country of residence.

Ok, thanx guys. And yeah, I've never personally cared about the origin status of my equipment so long as it works properly. In this case I really didn't know if it was just a plain situation of NTSC vs. PAL or if there was more to it than that. Plus, I'm not the only person putting my money into the purchase and the other party wants to ensure high resale value should we move up later on. Thanx again, guys!

yeah. E and 102 are Pal models. First for Europe. Second for Asia, Pacific Islander region, as already said.

Grey Market vs. Authorized means Warranty and rebate eligible vs. not eligible.

The more important thing when buying used, is just to make sure you are getting what you pay for, and that you know what you are getting. Test it out if possible. Verify the source. Do some research, etc.

Later,
Jason
