i recently purchased what was listed as a dvx100a on ebay but on the side of the lcd it just says dvx100 unlike a freind of mines that says dvx100a but under the viewfinder by the serial number it says dvx100AP ... could it still be a 100a without a being on the lcd ? is there any way to tell for sure

Thank you so much

Well, one obvious way would be to go into the scene file settings menu. Does it have a setting for detail coring? If so, it's a 100A (or 100B). Another way would be to see if the aspect ratio options offer norm+letterbox, or norm+letterbox+squeeze. If it offers squeeze, it's a 100A.

Thanks! I really appreciate it! Im glad to find out it does have squeeze and detail coring.

Also, just for information, I heard that the A models were the noisiest out of all the DVX models and, IMO, I agree with that assessment.

^^^ I haven't directly compared with a 100 or a 100b but I have to agree that my 100a is fairly noisy.
