How to stop recording?

How do you stop recording without shutting down the entire carmera? When you push the red button it goes into standby. Is that the only option? I guess unlike tape, since this is digital, I don't need to worry about stress on tape heads? (There is nothing in the directions about this.) Thanks.
 
You just press the red button again without turning the switch to off. When it goes into standby does your camera power down or go black immediatly?
 
I'm not quite sure what you're trying to ask... when the camera is in standby, you're not recording. You're free at this point to get into the menu, remove the card, or power down, etc.
 
@ mike: I know I am not recording, but with head to head cameras from the past, it is never a good idea to remain in the standby/pause mode for long because you wear down the tape heads. I was wondering it there is the same concern for digital. Thanks.
 
nope.... it doesn't have the same boogaboos as tape did. It's got its own special digital ones..
 
Well my friend your camera is pauseing until the next time you press the red button it's perfectly normal.
