How to Stabilize HPX170 + DoF Adapter on a Helicopter

I haven't been able to find much about this. I talked to some people who said that gyros don't work well with light cameras? That sounds weird to me. Our rig would be about 20lbs. at least. We are hoping to rent super speeds which are on the heavier side. I certainly could mount the monitor on the camera and do the same with the batteries. It wouldn't be as heavy as many other cameras would but I thought it would be heavy enough for at least some helicopter mounts...

I don't know if I'll be able to get a helicopter mount but that would be best if I could find one and figure out everything I need to check to make sure it can be mounted on our helicopter which I've secured.

What are the other options? Would using a steady cam with gyros be ridiculous? What about a shoulder mount with gyros?

Any info and footage examples would be greatly appreciated!

Can you explain the shot you are going for, interior, exterior, partial. Depending on your shot it might be a tyler mount or a sling camera. Do not use a steadicam for helicopter shots, only a very few elite ops have done such a thing (one of them did a walk off) but everybody reccomends against it. Too dangerous.

Exterior, wides of the landscape, and a chasing shot of a car that turns into a high wide shot of a lake we'll be shooting at... we'll have an 18mm on it for the wides and possibly something like a 50mm or an 85mm for the chasing shot... not sure how wide we'll be able to stay while keeping us at a safe distance of the car.

I wasn't expecting the steady to be the smart choice. :D

Where could I get those mounts from up there?

You need to either go for a tyler mount or gyro mount on the front of the chopper (reccomended). A sling will not work, and handheld gyro will not either.

Hope this helps,
