So to do smoothe slowmo u shoot 60i, drop it on a 24p timeline and slow it down 40%.
but i never hear people talk about how to do fastmo?! :undecided...anyway sped up action. I've sped up 24p footage and it gets blurry. How to i achieve this look. (thinking of doing some of this for a music vid.)

Weird...when I speed up footage in Premier, it actually gets SHARPER looking. But I've only ever used small speed increments.

I think this will depend on what NLE you are using and the settings you choose.

How much are you looking to speed it up by?

I've sped up 24p footage in Premiere to 250% and it still looked clear and without any blurring. Maybe it is the NLE -- or maybe it's an interlacing issue.

weird...i'm using premier cs3...take a look on this as an example of the blurry at 00.21 seconds. looks a bit blurry to me. this was shot a good while ago so i cant remember how much i sped it up by....i know it wasnt more than 250% though.

I'm having the same problem.I'm shooting a fight scene in 24Pa and need to speed up some of the footage but,it gets so blurry when sped up in the least that it's un watchable please tell me about this "smooth" fast motion PLEASE!

I'm shooting the typical "film look setting" of 1/48 shutter speed.i also took some old 30p footage that was shot at a higher shutter and got the same results :(

haven't tried a high shutter. I'll try that and see what happens

Yeah, the higher the shutter the smaller the slice of action, thus less blur...although you'll have to deal with adding more lighting.....this can work really well outdoors with the highest shutter, no ND, and then working with the iris to find the right level.
