How to set a Firestore 100 for Quicktime Recording ?

We can't stand the spanned clips anymore in FCP and we're switching to a different format. We tried the P2 format and now we want to use the QT.

Can someone please walk us thru the steps of setting up for QT ?

QT or QTpn ?



Here's what we've been using

- Plug fire wire cables in
- Turn on Camera
- Turn on Firestore
- Normal (Record Screen)
- DVC PRO HD REC (HDD Mode Screen)
- P2 or P2pn (DV Formats Screen)
- (Setup Screen)
TC reset
TC REC RUN
- FA Tapeless (Functions Screen)
- Tapeless (Control Screen)
DONE

Ok just got done playing around with it, looks like it's the same setup as P2, except we don't have to hit organize every time to dump footage.


Say we wanted to record 720pn and 1080i, can we switch formats on the firestore from QTPN to QT without losing any of our footage ?

Ok I shot 24pn to firestore and some clips transfer and some don't. It starts to transfer, but then it just all of a sudden stops ???? I have to stop the transfer and some times even have to turn off the firestore because it jams up my system.


Seriously am I the only one having this issue or is my old G5 2ghz computer ? Maybe that I'm using the front Firewire on my computer ?


Can someone please help me with this ?

VICTORY !!!

Finally found it, it's because I'm using the front FW port of my computer and not the back FW port....

I'm going to leave my post just incase someone else might have the same problems.


I am still having problems viewing 24pn @ 1280 x 720p. It will play if I leave it alone, but if I want to skip thru, it freezes but the TC keeps going.

Do I need a 24PN plug in maybe ?

You may already know this, but I haven't seen it in anything you have posted here.
If you want to record pn on the Firestore...set the camera on 24p (not24pn). Set the Firestore to pn.
